Un’s Kuta is one of our favorite restaurants in Bali. We discovered it a few years ago and loved that we had stumbled on a hidden gem where we had the dining room almost all to ourselves. Last visit was a lot different. It seems like the masses have cottoned on to our secret place and we had to wait for a table. Despite it’s new found popularity Un’s Kuta hasn’t lost any of it’s charm and the food is as amazing as ever. Read on for all the details …

Un’s Kuta Overview
Un’s Kuta is a little tricky to find but it’s well worth hunting down. You’ll find it tucked away on a side alley off Poppies I towards the Jalan Legian end. The menu at Un’s is a melting pot of cuisines, think Greek salad, Italian pastas, Thai spring rolls, French classics, Mexican margaritas and all your Indonesian favourites. With a menu this large, we really did have a tough time choosing. The decor is simple and reminiscent of a garden courtyard despite being inside. There is a small bar tucked away in the back corner if grabbing a quick drink is more your thing.
On arrival we were presented with complimentary shot sized margaritas and a chicken nugget each which was a nice touch. The Margarita was fabulous and I have ordered the full size version on past visits but I would skip the nugget. It is not spectacular and you don’t want to use up any available room for what is to come. The garlic bread we ordered was fairly standard and generous with the toppings.
The Main Event
We settled on the Escalope a la Créme (me) and the Steak au Poivre (The Hubs). Both were sensational. The steak was tender, lean, cooked to perfection and faultless. I had serious food envy looking across the table at The Hubs’ plate but my chicken was equally delicious. I ordered mine without the mushrooms and the creamy sauce was superb on the hand cut pasta. It’s near on impossible getting a decent glass of Sauv Blanc in Bali so I was so thrilled to find one I liked here. On subsequent visits I have ordered the Steak au Poivre and swapped the gratin for mash which I think worked a lot better.
We finished the night with the Brownie Sundae. What’s not to love about a gooey warm brownie smothered in cream and ice cream?
